Ionian in Nautical Retrospect

The year 2011 has offered the opportunity to spend my summervacation in the company of 9 other sailor minded Danes at the Ionian sea in Greece. The vessel for our safe transport is a 50" Beneteau Yacht named Vega. Vega is a 2003 charter yacht. Home port is  Gouvia Marina at the Isle of Korfu. At the time of writing preparations are almost complete and departure is tomorrow from Copenhagen Airport.

Travelling in Greece this year in particular is something else. Greece is facing bankrupcy and decision making is at present taking place within the European Union. Is the country  there at all or simply moved to another location to the benefit of someone holding more financial strength!? I guess there is no wise old man in situations like these. However, as long as we are able to transfer in Athens Airport, I feel certain we see nothing and feel nothing in relation to the Greek misery.
